Are you a budding script-writer or an aspiring producer, attracted to the idea of developing original work for television?

The Jersey Arts Trust, in association with Banjos, are thrilled to announce that on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October 2013 award-winning television drama producer and script-writer Yvonne Grace will be in the Island for a weekend of workshops and one-to-one mentoring sessions on the art of script-writing and television treatments.

Yvonne has spent over 20 years as a top-industry professional within television, with extensive experience working for both the BBC and ITV, for a multitude of renowned TV dramas such as Eastenders, Holby City and Coronation Street.

Over the course of the weekend, aspiring screen-writers will have the opportunity to gain further insight into the competitive world of television script-writing and producing. They will benefit from Yvonne’s professional experience as a TV producer, editor and writer, in order to develop their own skills and uncover the most successful paths into the business.

On Saturday 6 October, Yvonne will be leading a full-day workshop in the Beresford Room at Banjo’s Brassiere, focusing on the nature of developing ideas for treatment for television. Yvonne will introduce and explain the idea of treatments, and their function within the pitching process of successful television productions. Participants will have the opportunity to formulate their own treatments and, with the help of Yvonne, pitch their newly developed treatments back to the room.

This workshop is available to all. Places are £25 (£15 for students) for the full day, which will be from 10am-4.30pm (there will also be a scheduled hour long lunch break during the day, where people are encouraged to eat together in Banjo’s restaurant or bar).

On Sunday 7 October, a number of one-to-one sessions will be available, on prior arrangement, for participants to engage directly with Yvonne. Each 20 minute session should provide each writer with the opportunity to seek unique, individually tailored advice about their treatments, edited scripts or to gain industry advice in general. These sessions will be available to participants of the Saturday workshop, and will cost £10. Those wanting to seek advice on specific scripts are required to submit these in advance.

To book a place on the workshop or a one-to-one session please contact the Jersey Arts Trust on info@arts.je or on 617521.
