The Bedell Creative Arts Programme Calls for Creative Artists

The Bedell Creative Arts Programme is a year-long initiative that supports local creative artists in the development of their own craft and encourages people to collaborate with artists of different genres to produce exciting new work. The Bedell Creative Arts Programme is run by the Jersey Arts Trust in partnership with the Jersey Opera House and is sponsored by Bedell and the One Foundation.

The Opportunity:

The Bedell Creative Arts Programme is now appealing for a new intake of Artists to benefit from the Programme. This opportunity is open to artists of all genres who, once selected, will form a company that will together go through a unique process of development and learn about the art of collaboration. The process will be split between two stages: ‘development’ and ‘production’ where the Artists will work with professional mentors on both their own craft and then collectively to create exciting new work. This work will then be showcased at the ‘Original Works Concert’ on 30th August, 2015 at the Jersey Opera House.

Who is it for?

The Bedell Creative Arts Programme is open to Artists of all practices – composers, song-writers, filmmakers, multi-media artists, dancers, choreographers, performance artists, writers, designers, directors, visual artists – who make their own work. Applicants should have a firm grasp of their own craft and be interested in working with others on shared projects that utilise each person’s skill set. The key aim of the project is to enable creative artists to collectively make larger pieces of work that they wouldn’t ordinarily be able to make on their own. It is open to anyone over the age of 16 and will consider people at all levels of experience (from self-taught to fully trained; from emerging to fully professional). If you are at all unsure as to whether the Programme would be right for you then please call the Jersey Arts Trust on 01534 617521.

What is the Commitment?

The Bedell Creative Arts Programme will take place in stages over the course of the next year, deliberately coinciding with school and university holidays, making it possible for all age groups to take part. To be accepted onto the Programme you will need to ensure that you are available for all of the following dates:

Auditions – Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st December, 2014 (though we could consider a Skype audition in exceptional circumstances)

Development Week – Monday 6th – Sunday 12th April, 2015

Production Week – Saturday 22nd – Sunday 30th August, 2015

Original Works Showcase – Sunday 30th August, 2015

There will be an opportunity to keep in touch with the facilitators and each other between these sessions but the above dates are the times that you must be available and in the Island.

Application Process:

We would like to appeal to as broad range of people as possible – as long as your work is original and it’s yours, we want to hear from you. To apply, simply fill out the form attached and send it to us at the address below, along with up to 3 examples of your work (this can be a recording, script, images, notes, website links – anything that gives us a flavour of what you do). Please do take some time to let us know about you and your work in the final question on the form. We have no pre-conceived ideas about who we are looking for at this stage so there is no right or wrong way of doing this – we just want to learn about you. The professional facilitator team will review the applications and a shortlist will be called for interview/audition in December where we can find out in more detail about your practice and aspirations.

To enter, simply send up to 3 examples of your work, along with the completed application form, to: Jersey Arts Trust, First Floor, 3 Charles Street, St. Helier, JE2 4SF, or by email to:

The deadline for all submissions is: Monday 24th November, 2014
