Skipton Art Series: Sam Carney’s Sketch Walks

Improve your drawing skills and be a part of this years Skipton Arts Series by joining artist Sam Carney and Jersey Blue Badge Guide Sue Hardy on Sunday 28th May for an afternoon walking and drawing workshop around Jersey’s beautiful St Brelade’s Bay. Starting from St Brelade’s Church Hall, you will walk through the grounds of the church to the beaches promenades parks and beyond making quick and spontaneous sketches informed by the scenery architecture and people along the way. Whether you are a complete beginner wanting to enjoy the amazing Jersey coast through your artist’s eye, or a more experienced artist looking to shake up your usual drawing practice, this will be a fun and informative experience. Your drawings will then be featured as part of a documentary exhibition at Jersey Museum’s Link Gallery. All the drawing materials you’ll need will be provided – just bring an open mind and your walking shoes.

Meet at the front of the St Brelade’s Church Hall at 1:30pm for a 2pm start. There are 20 tickets available at just £10 each, payable on the day. All you need to do is e-mail Sam at: to book your spot and avoid disappointment.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The Workshop will be suitable for ages 10+ however any under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult and please bear in mind that the workshop will include around 2-3 miles of walking over varied terrain.

What are my transportation parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is car parking available all along the bay just a short walk from the start point at the St Brelade’s.

Church Hall and another grass carpark just at the back of the hall however I cannot guarantee the availability of parking. Alternatively the 12, 12a and 14 bus routes have stops near to the start point. Check for details and timetables.

What can I bring to the event?

Drawing materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own DRY materials - pencils, charcoal, pastels etc. would all be suitable however for the purpose of exhibiting the drawings after we kindly ask that you work on the paper provided and not in personal sketchbooks.

Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather on the day. We would advise bringing suncream hats good shoes for walking light refreshments and snacks and a folding chair or stool if you prefer to draw sitting down. How can I contact the organiser with any questions.

What’s the refund policy?
